Extraordinary Style Exhibition

This season’s Extraordinary Style exhibition celebrates the rebellious spirit and infectious energy that has shaped the cultural legacy of King’s Cross. Collaborating with photographer Clare Shilland, stylist Michele Rafferty and collage artist Patrick Waugh, we’ve photographed 10 people with inspiring style who live, work or study in the neighbourhood.

The exhibition is on display at Coal Drops Yard. Each outfit has been curated from the Autumn/Winter 2023 collections that are available in King’s Boulevard and Coal Drops Yard shops.

A home for creative souls

This season we are honouring the rebellious spirit and infectious energy that has shaped the cultural legacy of King’s Cross. King’s Cross, once the industrial heart of London, has always been an integral part of the city’s creative soul.

From experimental film screenings at the Scala in the ‘70s to the warehouse club scene in the ‘80s and ‘90s, the neighbourhood has always drawn countercultural movements — making it the perfect backdrop for sartorial creativity.

Rebellion through style

London has always been a creative hotbed for rebellious fashion. The capital is synonymous with avant-garde fashion schools, such as Central Saint Martins and has produced a host of iconic designers, with the likes of Alexander McQueen and Vivenne Westwood both known for breaking barriers and taking risks.

Inspired by current fashion trends that harness the spirit of rebellion, this exhibition embodies a sense of individuality and creativity that is taking this season’s catwalk shows and collections by storm.
